MENTORED HUNTS: A GREAT SUCCESS

This year, GRHA hosted youth, first-time hunter, women, veteran, and first-responder hunts at the Henges Center. Through the Missouri Department of Conservations (MDC) Mentored Hunt program, youth and first-time hunters were introduced to the traditions of waterfowl hunting while learning conservation ethics.
For many, it was their first sunrise over the marsh, their first encounter with waterfowl, and their very first harvest. Watching excitement and confidence growing in these new hunters reinforces why programs like this must continue.

These hunts also provided opportunities to thank our community’s heroes (veterans and first responders).  We are grateful for the chance to give back to those who served and continue to serve our communities. It is a privilege we do not take lightly, and we look forward to more opportunities to bring people together through hunting, habitat, and the outdoors.
During the 2025 season, 24 hunts were planned and more than 200 participants attended. This year’s program was a resounding success, despite 4 hunts being cancelled due to ice. Beyond hunting skills, participants learned the importance of preserving the habitats that make these experiences possible—building the next generation of conservationists.

We thank our partners: Missouri Department of Conservation, Jay Henges Charitable Trust, Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, Missouri Hunting Heritage Federation, The Fallen Outdoors, Return to Base – Missouri, The BackStoppers, Divebomb Industries, Top Tier Outdoors, Beretta, Benelli, Franchi, Vortex, Belleau Farms, Lone Star Family Farm, Over&Under Club, the Quacker, and all GRHA volunteer guides.

With your support, we will expand hunts, workshops, volunteer days, and hands-on learning opportunities in 2026 and beyond.
