AMEREN TRANSMISSION LINES TO DESTROY THE CONFLUENCE

Friends of GRHA,

Ameren is moving forward with the Eastern Missouri Grid Transformation Project in Lincoln and St. Charles Counties. This project would place new or expanded transmission lines directly through one of the most important migratory bird corridors in North America and across sensitive wetlands and bottomland hardwoods that protect our communities from flooding.

This is a critical moment for public input.

Ameren is accepting comments on its project website, and your voice can influence the outcome!

GRHA is doing everything we can to stop this project including an upcoming meeting with Ameren officials.

CALL TO ACTION

Please take a few minutes today to submit public comment. Tell Ameren that our wetlands, wildlife, and communities deserve protection.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR COMMENT

  1. Visit Ameren's project link provided here.
  2. Locate the “Submit a comment” button (left side in green).
  3. Register and answer a few questions.
  4. Submit your concerns in your own words. Limited to 1,000 words.

TALKING POINTS YOU CAN USE

  • The proposed transmission line route cuts through a major migratory bird corridor, increasing the risk of bird collisions and increasing mortality.
  • Wetlands in this region provide essential flood protection, water filtration, and wildlife habitat; transmission construction would degrade or destroy these functions.
  • The Mississippi–Missouri confluence is a globally significant ecological area, and infrastructure expansion should avoid sensitive landscapes whenever possible.
  • The project threatens habitat used by waterfowl, raptors, and other species protected under federal conservation laws.
  • Floodplain soils are unstable, and placing large transmission structures in these areas increases long-term maintenance and safety risks.
  • Ameren has not demonstrated that lower-impact alternative routes were fully evaluated, especially those outside critical habitat zones.

Your participation matters!

Transmission lines kill millions of migratory birds each year.

Public pressure has changed the course of similar projects across the country. Please take a moment to make your voice heard.

Thank you for standing up for our environment, our community, our CONFLUENCE.
